Which Greatfon alternative fits your task?

Using this page now: handle, stories, file
Short route first. The lookup on the start page covers the usual jobs for public accounts; the matrix further down shows how four other addresses coped with the same jobs.
Instagram rules and the outside viewers on this page hold as of September 24, 2026; this site’s own lookup, as of October 13, 2026, unless a line carries its own date.
Route: handle or profile URL → Look up → Stories / Posts / Reels / Highlights tab → Download under the item.
To skip the reading, run your own use case on a public handle and compare with the app.
A viewer earns its place because instagram.com gives a signed-out visitor the top of a profile and the first rows of the grid before a sign-in prompt for more, and stories demand a login at once. Full breakdown in How Greatfon works, part by part.
Pass marks per job, and stop signs
The job sets the bar. A viewer that passes on highlights can still fail on a live story, so each job gets its own condition.
Pass condition per job:
- Live-story job: passes when an item under a day old shows.
- Highlights job: every set the app shows, each clip inside.
- Grid job: newest post matches the app, nothing laid over it.
- File job: a button per item, no form between click and file.
Every job assumes a public handle, and none of them should cost credentials or money.
On that last point, one reply in a Reddit thread started May 7, 2026 is blunt: “Don’t pay for an app.” A single opinion, and no Instagram rule. It still matches the line above.
Control check per job, run against a famous public handle that your own Instagram app also opens:
- Live story: newest item on the viewer against the ring in the app. If the viewer’s is older, it fails.
- Highlights: count the sets in both places. If the viewer shows fewer, it fails.
- Grid: top three posts, same order in both.
- File: press one Download button. A form or a detour before the file counts as a fail.
Stop signs the matrix below actually showed:
- a Stories tab stuck on weeks-old items;
- a watch-an-advert box laid over the grid;
- a paid downloader offered before the results.
General red flags, password fields and install prompts included: How Greatfon works, part by part.
Checked on the day, or not checked.
Four addresses by use case, September 24, 2026
Four addresses were opened in turn on September 24, 2026, 18:56 to 19:06 CEST. Desktop Chrome in a throwaway profile, no VPN, IP address in Poland. One large public account on each, the same everywhere. No credentials, payment, installs or downloads were used, and no advert or offer was completed. Regional banners and results may differ elsewhere.
Two dropped out before any job: picuki.com (a TikTok viewer on arrival, both tries) and storiesdown.com (no DNS record, two tries). The other two loaded and fill the columns.
| Your situation | anonyig.com | imginn.com | Greatfon* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile needed at all | Loaded | Loaded | Lookup loads a public profile |
| Story posted this morning | 1 story, marked “1 days ago” | Newest item 25 days old | What is live at lookup time, as delivered |
| Kept sets, not today’s | Highlights on the page | Highlights on the page | Each set, each clip |
| Recent grid | 6 posts shown | Ad-to-unlock box over the posts; left unfinished, rest unknown | Latest posts first, scrolling fetches more; reels sit in their own tab |
| File needed offline | Button on posts and on the story | Button per item, plus “Download All” | One button per item |
| Account is locked | Public only, per its own FAQ | Public only, per its own FAQ | Header only, content stays closed |
| Follower list wanted | None noted | None noted | Opening batch of each list, from the counters |
* Greatfon column: a separate check, explained in the next section.
Two gates showed up: imginn.com put an ad-to-unlock box over its posts tab, and anonyig.com showed a paid outside downloader before its search result, skippable via a “low quality” link. Neither of the two asked for a login or sign-up, viewing cost nothing, and no files were fetched during the session.
Reading it by job:
- Live story: one of four delivered in that hour, its item marked a day old; a second showed only old items.
- Highlights: two, anonyig.com and imginn.com.
- Gates: both of those put something in front of some or all of the results.
- All four jobs without a gate: neither of the two.
The same jobs, at one address: Greatfon.
Where does this site land on each use case?
The right-hand column comes from a separate browser run, also on September 24, 2026, using the same lookup component. Not part of the 18:56 to 19:06 session, so treat it as a neighbouring reading, not a like-for-like run. Since then the Greatfon column has changed: reels got a separate tab, each counter opens the top of its list, comments can be read and profile pictures come at full size. Column revised: October 13, 2026.
Per use case:
- Live now: whatever is live, as delivered by the provider at lookup time. Empty tab: nothing live was delivered; Highlights next.
- Highlights: every set, every clip inside it.
- Grid: the latest entries, extended by scrolling (about 70 at most), not the whole back catalogue. Reels: a separate tab.
- Nothing asked: the login count and the price are both zero.
- Private profiles: header only, nothing behind it. Follower lists: the opening batch of names, for public accounts.
Downloads, as served:
- Unit: one button per item. No bulk button.
- Photos: JPEG most of the time, WebP now and then, sometimes still named .jpg, exactly as the source sends them.
- Video: MP4, audio track kept when there is one.
- Size: unchanged from the source. Files are never upscaled, and resolution is not promised.
- Marks: nothing stamped onto the file.
Posts carry an age stamp. No like button, comment box or reply field exists on the page, so nothing here can act on Instagram for you.
Where a private profile stops, which parts load, and who fetches the data: How Greatfon works, part by part.
This site does not suit archivists after a whole account in one go. One button per item means one click per file. In the session above, one viewer showed a “Download All” button; this site has none.
How replacements fail, and the fix
Each entry gives the symptom, what it means and the move. Every example comes from the evening session above.
- Every lookup errors out. The viewer or its source is failing. Run a control lookup on a big public account; if that fails as well, switch or come back later.
- The address serves a different product. On both attempts, picuki.com arrived at a TikTok viewer, so that address does not do the job.
- The address resolves to nothing. storiesdown.com did this twice, eight minutes apart, and nothing on your side fixes it.
- A new gate or upsell. The session met an ad-to-unlock box and a paid outside downloader. Run each past the stop signs above.
- A notice with a timer. The lookup could not finish for now. Here that means a message and a brief countdown, followed by a “Run again” button; a mistyped handle can end up here too, so read it back first. Every message this site shows, decoded: Is Greatfon down? Read the message first.
A second comment in that Reddit thread says much the same from one user’s side: the viewers that person had tried broke after updates, or raised privacy worries. A single report, nothing measured.
Fix order, any viewer:
- Read the handle back, letter by letter.
- Control lookup on a big public account.
- Wait out any timer, then retry once.
- If it still fails, move to the next viewer on your shortlist.
Two failures on your job take it off the shortlist.
Quick replies on replacements
Best anonymous Instagram viewer: is there a single pick?
No single pick. Per job, on September 24, 2026: live story, anonyig.com; highlight sets, imginn.com or anonyig.com. Neither did all four jobs without a gate in the way. Rerun the control check on the day you need it.
Do no-login story viewers actually deliver?
That evening, a live story loaded login-free on anonyig.com, its item marked “1 days ago”. imginn.com’s stories tab stopped at 25 days old. Two other addresses ran no Instagram viewer. Public profiles only, on every one of them.
Can any free viewer list who liked a post?
Neither of the two viewers that loaded offered a likes list. Greatfon prints like and comment tallies under each post, and its viewer lets you read the threads; whoever liked stays unnamed. A site promising that list deserves suspicion.
How do I save a story from someone else’s account?
Public account only. Look it up, open Stories, hit Download beneath the item. Video arrives as MP4, audio included if the clip carries any. If nothing is live right now, try Highlights.
Highlights on a locked account: can they be saved?
No. Under Instagram’s rule, a locked profile holds back its highlights and live stories from all but approved followers; Greatfon cannot open them, and no other viewer can either. Why the lock holds: How Greatfon works, part by part.
Are the viewers in the table truly anonymous?
The two that loaded asked for no login, so neither had your account; here, too, no account of yours gets used. Any web viewer still receives the typed handle plus your IP; here that is greatfon.net itself, while the data provider is sent only the handle: How Greatfon works, part by part.
